The New Year has arrived. With that comes resolutions, goals, and overall feelings that this new year will be great. Most people are really serious at the beginning of the month and then slowly lose momentum. I can be one of those people at times, however this year I decided to get really serious about my goals. It is one thing to set a goal for the year and not look at it again. It is another to set a goal and actively work towards it.
I know that I want 2022 to be my best year yet. Instead of getting to June and realizing I dropped the ball on everything I have done, I want to be making adjustments for what else I can try to accomplish this year.
Below are the steps I am taking this year to make my goals/dreams come true. While these steps may not work for everyone, why not try something new if you have been having a hard time accomplishing your goals?

First things first, I dream and I dream big. I envision what my life is going to be like in the future. I envision my house, what I will be driving, where I will be living, what I will be doing for a living and the person that I want to be. I envision how the best day of my life would be and how it would feel. Those feelings are important! Remember anything is possible, just depends on how big you can dream. You can also think about what you want your life to look like in 10 years, if that is easier for you to envision.
Next, I decide on 10 goals for the year that if accomplished would get me closer to my big dreams. Then, I break down the 10 goals into steps I can follow.

I decided to go old school method this year and put up cork boards where I have begun making my vision boards. These vision boards are going to include pictures/goals of my future dreams and where I want to be in life. I have also taped up pieces of notebook paper with each goal listed at the top.
With each goal, I break down what I need to do to get that goal accomplished. Some are easier than others. One of my goals is to graduate with my Master’s. For January, I have planned out exactly what I need to do each week to get my thesis written. In February, I plan to re-evaluate what I did in January and set up what I need to do moving forward. You can break down your goals into quarters, months, and even weeks if need be.
For me, seeing the steps that I need to take to get what I need done helps me stay focused. I have even taken a bigger step and blocked off time in my calendar to make sure I work on what I need to, to get things done.
Different techniques work differently for people. Figure out what works best for you and use it to the best of your ability. It may not be easy at times but it will be worth it.
You are the one that can make all your dreams come true. Show up for yourself and watch how your life changes.
Spread some love, we can all use a little more love!
XOXOXO
