One way to Combat Being Overwhelmed

That feeling of being over whelmed, I know we have all felt it. You know the feeling you get when you cross something off your to-do list, only to have two more things added to it? The feeling of everything needing your time and attention all at once? The not knowing how you are going to get everything done feeling.

This has been my life the past few days. I have tried all the tricks that I know. Taking a moment to step away from the madness. Taking 15 minutes to read something I enjoy. Taking a really long and extra hot shower. These things have helped, but there was still the feeling of rush rush rush to get it all done.

I have this book that was given to me a few years ago, it sits on my night stand and every morning I try to read one passage out of it. “You Are a Badass Every Day. ” – Jen Sincero

The passage I read today

“NOW = Never Over Whelmed”

“Overwhelm cannot touch you when you’re all wrapped up in the here and now. Overwhelm is a mindset; it’s the choice to focus on everything all at once and stress yourself out. Instead, choose to take your life moment by moment and savor it.”

So instead of thinking about my mountain list of things I need to do, I have to switch my mindset up and be in the here and now and focus on one thing at a time. I need to be grateful for the social media posts I get to create and schedule, and finding joy in educating people with my posts. Be grateful for the tasks needed for the organizations I am involved in. Find joy in every single thing my hands are involved in.

Yes, I will always have my to do list, but instead of looking at the long list, I am taking the first thing on the list and putting all of my heart and soul into it. Imagine the creations you can come up with when you are less stressed about the 9 million other things that need to be done. When you are focusing on the one task you are working one, the creative aspect of your work has a chance to soar.

God/Universe works in powerful ways, I needed that passage today, and I hope it helps you as much as it helped me.

Mindsets around Abundance

I found it very fitting that my box from Passion and Growth this month was based on Abundance. Abundance has always been something that I feel like most people strive for. They want to make enough money to take care of themselves and their children one day. Have something to retire one and finally enjoy their life.

There is a trick to abundance though, although I could be wrong, but I believe it revolves around mindset too. For the past, 15 years or so, I have worked two jobs. There was a lapse for a couple of months here and there, but for the most part, since my adult working career, it has been two jobs. Yet, no matter how much I worked, I wasn’t getting ahead. I made bad financial decisions, spent money I didn’t have, and the whole time kept wondering when I was going to catch a break.

Here is the funny thing, when you keep talking about how “stuck” you are, that is exactly where you are going to stay. While doing some major work on myself this last year, gratitude often came into the picture. Instead of being upset with where I was in life, I needed to look back to see how far I have come. Instead of wondering, when I was going to catch my break, or get my own place, or pay off those credit cards, I switched my mindset.

I started thinking about how grateful I am to have a place to stay, how, I may not be debt free but I sure did get that card paid off. Being grateful for the 26 cents raises and the quarterly bonuses. Being extra grateful for the online boutique orders that started coming in again. It is all about switching your mindset.

Nothing is ever going to be perfect and I am sure we will always want more, most humans do. Just be sure to take a moment and realize how much you already have.

Positive thoughts around money turn into money flowing to you. I can’t wait to read this months book, and I will be sure to share all the deets.

Share some love, we could all use a little more love.

Knowing Your Worth and Capabilities

Have you ever had that experience where something shifted for you, but you can’t quite put your finger on what it is? Where you have more pep in your step, feel more capable, have more confidence and are mentally stronger? These past few weeks, I have been in this transition and feeling all the things and it finally hit me.

I know My Worth.

For so long, I have always felt I can do better, be better, needed someone to stand with me, that I was not capable of doing it on my own. Friday, it finally hit me. After geeking out all day on some marketing analytics (I am such a nerd), I started working on my CV, a Curriculum Vitae, an extended resume where you put all your academic and professional achievements. I started listing every single thing that I have done the last few years. Every project that my hands played a part in, and before I knew it, I was up to 14 pages and I still had more to go. At that moment I realized, wow you are pretty freaking awesome. I realized that everything I had done, I figured out on my own, from videography, to podcasts, to blogs, to presentations and social media, I learned along the way. Now, this is not a blog about me tooting my own horn but about recognizing your worth and capabilities.

I challenge each and every one of you, take out a piece of paper and write down everything you have accomplished. I think this is especially important for women. We do not give ourselves the credit we deserve for the things we have done. Write it out, take a step back and truly look at what you have done. Then pat yourself on the back and realize how amazing you are. Realize the capabilities you have and the hard work it took to get where you are today.

The shift in myself has been eye opening. No longer do I feel that I “need” someone else to make my life whole. No longer am I questioning what I bring to the table. No longer does doubt fill my thoughts. Are there insecurities still about doing the next big thing? Of course, but all I have to do is look back at what I have done and know that I can accomplish the next big thing. Is it scary? Does it make me uncomfortable? Definitely. But that is what it takes to get out of the comfort zone and accomplish the next big thing.

Take a moment to stop and pat yourselves on the back for all that you have overcome and achieved. You deserve it. Take the compliments people give you and fully believe what they are saying. Words have power, make sure the words you speak to yourself are full of positivity. You got this!

As always, share some love, we could all use a little more love.
